Red Flags in Signal Services

The clearest warning signs that a signal service's claims cannot be independently verified, in order of severity.

1. Win rate claims above 85% without a verifiable audit

Statistically implausible for most market conditions over meaningful periods. Any claim above this threshold that is not backed by a named independent auditor should be treated with significant scepticism.

2. Results presented only as screenshots

Screenshots are trivially editable and are not auditable evidence. A brokerage statement screenshot is marginally better than a P&L screenshot, but neither is a substitute for an auditor's review of the underlying records.

3. “Verified” backed only by the provider's own platform

Self-certification is not verification. If the provider controls the platform showing the results, they control the results shown. This is the most common form of misleading credibility claim in this market.

4. No published maximum drawdown

A provider who does not publish their worst-period drawdown is hiding the most important risk metric buyers need. This is almost never an oversight; it is a choice.

5. Pricing that requires registration to view

If a provider hides their pricing behind a registration wall, ask why. Transparent pricing is one of the five criteria in this guide, and it is among the easiest to satisfy.

6. Telegram channels with no independent signal record

Telegram providers control what appears in their channel and when. There is no external record of what was published at what time. This structural problem makes Telegram signal records unverifiable by design.

7. Social media accounts where signals only appear after moves have occurred

Retroactive signal claiming is easy on social media and impossible to detect unless you observed the original post in real time and archived it. If you cannot establish that a signal was published before the move it claims to have called, it has no evidential value.

8. Testimonials as primary evidence

Testimonials are the least verifiable form of performance evidence. Selected testimonials cannot represent the full distribution of subscriber outcomes. They tell you that at least some subscribers were satisfied, which is weak evidence when a provider controls which testimonials are published.
